"Diversity is our/a strength" is a commonly repeated claim in modern western society, especially among politicians, educators, and human resource departments. The claim is this: People with different characteristics have varied experiences and these varied experiences will provide them with different perspectives and insights about whatever issue is at hand, a greater number of unique ideas pertaining to an issue will lead to a higher likelihood of the optimal answer being thought of.

For example, take 10 people of the same race, group A, and give them a problem to solve. Take 10 people from 10 different races, group B, and give them the same problem that was given to group A, group B will frequently produce a better solution because their diverse group was able to look at the problem from more angles.
